Maintaining your weight is just as important , if not more important than losing it. There needs to be “a lifestyle change” that takes place during this process of losing weight in a healthy manner. Or else, you will be on the yo-yo end of it all. Losing, then gaining back, losing, then gaining back.
This seems to be what happens when people go to Jenny Craig, NutriSystem, Diet Center or any of the many options out there. They may help you lose weight initially, but most of them provide you with pre-packaged foods that contain toxins (preservatives, etc.). The body does not recognize these additives nor does it know what to do with it them. It treats them as a threat (poisons) in your body.
Therefore, they will be stored in the fat cells to protect you from them. Not the most healthy choice! After you are off the program and start eating other foods, you tend to gain the weight back. Chances are, there was not any “lifestyle change” that took place during this whole process.
As I said before, you need to become healthy to lose weight. We have been told it is the other way around, lose weight to become healthy. But it doesn’t work that way. There are many things in the body that have to be in place before someone can lose weight, in a healthy way.
Weight is a symptom just like diabetes or fibromyalgia is a symptom.
So, if you decide to invest in a weight loss program, make sure there is a type of coaching involved. That will insure you to have the best results possible. Most of us know what we need to do, so why don’t we do it? Doing it without a support system doesn’t usually work.
Having someone who cares about your progress and goals, and helps to hold you accountable is the difference between becoming healthy, maintaining your ideal weight and being on a yo-yo with your weight issues.
